How can I use Moodle Books to Organize Course Content?

The Moodle Book makes it easy to create a multi-page resource with a e-book-like format. Pages within the Book can contain text, images, video, audio, and other content types, so you can group much of your course content into a Book. Moodle Books include a table of contents menu that builds automatically as you add pages (called "chapters") to the Book.

To add a Book to your class:

  1. Turn editing on.
  2. Click "Add an activity or resource" on the main page of your Moodle course.
  3. Select "Book" from the Activity or resource collection.
  4. Give the Book a Name (and Description if desired).
  5. Select Appearance settings.
  6. Click Save and display. You will be taken directly to the setup for the first page (chapter) of your Book. 
  7. Add a Name and Content to the first page.
  8. Save changes. The first page will appear in your Book, and a table of contents will be started on the right side of the screen.
  9. In the table of contents, click the + symbol to the right of your first page title to add another page.
